An exceptional location

Château d’Aigueville is a single estate set against the magnificent backdrop of the Mont Ventoux and dentelles de Montmirail. With 37Ha of vines in the Massif d’Uchaux area surrounded by of olive trees, lavender fields and oak trees, it is the largest producer within this premium appellation. Built on a plot which has a history stemming back 2,000 years, it is the pinnacle of local wine making heritage and outstanding biodiversity.

The estate is certified organic by Ecocert and is managed within a balanced ecosystem where biodiversity is paramount. This forms the core of our work ethic as we aim to produce wines that are the purest expression of our local Massif d’Uchaux appellation.

Château d’Aigueville is based in the Southern Rhone valley 5km north of the roman city of Orange. Surrounded by a beautiful landscape with hills on either side, our vineyards benefit from an abundance of sunshine and cooling breezes making it a winemaking paradise. Our red wines are made from Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Cinsault grapes, and our whites are blends of  Clairette, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne et Bourboulenc.

Aigueville translates as ‘village of water’ in ancient French, and is named after an underground water spring stemming from the local river Sorgue which has enabled the region to flourish for the past 2,000 years.

Village of Water

The ancient spring of d’Aigueville

An ancient spring was discovered at the heart of the estate. Stemming from the local river Sorgue and nearby Fontaine du Vaucluse, this underground spring is accessible via an ancient stone tunnel. Thanks to its consistent humidity and temperature levels, the tunnel surrounding the spring provides the perfect conditions to age some of our most exceptional wines . Our ‘La Source’ cuvée is aged within the tunnel underground in small concrete eggs which ensure it has soft and elegant tannins and almost perfect ageing conditions.
